Abbey Volmer is an Adolescent Programs Clinician at Yéil Jeeyáx (Raven’s Way) in Sitka, Alaska. Abbey received her Master’s in Social Work from Simmons University in Boston, MA and is licensed by the State of Alaska Board of Social Work Examiners.
Abbey has worked in various settings, including psychiatric emergency services, pediatric gender management, high schools, and community outpatient services. Her areas of clinical interest are in serving LGBTQIA2+ populations, providing family system interventions, processing and healing from trauma, and chemical dependence recovery, utilizing a strengths-based approach in supporting adolescents struggling with substance use.
She uses a variety of modalities including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is her belief that all people have the capacity for change and success, and it is the clinician’s job to empower clients to see these traits in themselves.
