Taking steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19 has been challenging for all of us in Southeast and the entire State of Alaska. If you are facing the loss of income due to reduced hours or layoffs, here are several resources that may help your family through this time.
Help with Food
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), formerly known as food stamps, provides food benefits to low-income households. For eligibility information and an application, see http://dhss.alaska.gov/dpa/Pages/SNAP/default.aspx.
WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) provides nutritious foods, information on healthy eating and living, and referrals to healthcare for pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, and infants and children up to 5 years old. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all services are provided by phone and email. Please call 907.463.4099 or email email@example.com.
