SITKA – On Sunday, November 1, the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace began its Open Enrollment period for patients needing 2021 health coverage. The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Patient Health Benefits team is available to assist anyone who would like to enroll during the six-week window. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will close the Marketplace on Tuesday, December 15, with patients not meeting the deadline at risk of entering 2021 without coverage.
“Navigating the Marketplace to secure health insurance can be confusing, especially with all that is happening in the world,” says Susan Briles, Patient Health Benefits Supervisor. “We encourage patients to give the SEARHC Patient Health Benefits team a call, as our highly trained staff is here to help get you covered within the six-week enrollment period.”
SEARHC is a Certified Application Counselor agency and offers free assistance to all Southeast residents by appointment. Those requiring assistance should contact the Patient Health Benefits team at outreach@searhc.org or by calling 907.966.8684.
