SITKA – The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have announced that open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace has been extended to 11:00 a.m. Alaska Standard Time on Weds. December 18. The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Patient Health Benefits team is available to assist anyone who would like to take advantage of the extended enrollment.
“The Marketplace was so busy during the final hours that people experienced delays or issues,” said Andrea Thomas, SEARHC Patient Health Benefit Manager. “Given the additional time, we encourage you to please give us a call and we can assist you in applying for coverage. Securing health insurance can be confusing and we are specifically trained to assist.”
SEARHC is a Certified Application Counselor agency, offering free assistance to all Southeast residents by appointment, either in-person or by telephone. Those interested should contact the Patient Health Benefits office at outreach@searhc.org or 907.966.8684.
