Metlakatla

Located 15 miles south of Ketchikan, Metlakatla has a population of 1,460 and the Tsimshian people have lived on Annette Island since 1887. The U.S. Congress declared Annette Island a federal Indian reservation and it remains the only area in Alaska where the Tsimshian community and other Alaska Native tribes have exclusive use of the land.

The WIC Program (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) provides nutritious foods, information on healthy eating and living, and referrals to healthcare for pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, and infants and children up to 5 years old.
