SEARHC is now offering a new program known as the Youth Ambassador Program to Native and non-native youth in Southeast. One high school junior or senior from each community residing in Southeast Alaska will have the opportunity to become a leader for the entire school year. Suicide task force members will serve as one-on-one mentors for Youth Ambassador Participants. The Youth Ambassadors will meet at least once in person and every month by teleconference. They will discuss what is happening at their schools, and work on ways to encourage students to find alternatives to suicide. It is with this determination that the 1 is 2 Many Task Force wants to collaborate with all Southeast Alaska partners especially the Youth to endeavor in a community-based approach for suicide prevention.
