Summer Internships
What is a SEARHC Summer Internship?
The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium Summer Internship Program provides work experience for tribal members attending high school, college or technical programs who are interested in pursuing a career in health care. It allows participants to explore career options in health care. Interns receive valuable on the job training in their health care career of interest and earn a minimal hourly stipend. At the conclusion on the internship, participants will receive a performance evaluation with valuable feedback from their mentor/mentors.
Who is eligible?
- Enrolled tribal members or descendants as certified through a Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB)
- Must be currently enrolled in high school, college or vocational school and attending full time
- Must be in good academic standing and have a minimum GPA of 2.5
How do I apply?
To be considered, all the following items must be included:
- Summer internship application (PDF 84kb)
- SEARHC job application
- Two letters of recommendation
(Can be a teacher, counselor, employer or tribal leader) - Copy of current resume
- Copy of current transcripts
Timelines
- Recruitment: February 20-May 11, 2012
- Application Deadline: May 11, 2012
(Must be received or postmarked by this date) - Final Selection of Interns: May 21, 2012
- Internship Program: June - September, 2012
Important Information
Interns must be able to work a minimum of thirty hours and a maximum of forty hours per week under the supervision of a manager at a SEARHC facility. All interns will be required to submit fingerprints for a background check once selected. Although a minimal hourly stipend is provided, interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation during the internship. SEARHC will NOT provide housing and/or transportation.
