Applicant Requirements

  • Woman who is pregnant, breastfeeding or just had a baby or miscarriage (postpartum)
  • Infant or child under age 5
  • Meet income guidelines

Income guidelines

  • Review our income guidelines
  • If you receive Medicaid, Denali KidCare, ATAP, Food Stamps, free and reduced price school lunches or are a foster parent of a child under 5, you are already income-eligible.

Fathers and guardians

Fathers, guardians and foster parents are encouraged to apply for their children.

Federal policy

WIC is available to everyone regardless of race. In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, the WIC Program is prohibited from discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability or religion. How to apply

Items to bring to a WIC appointment

  • ID for yourself and each child
  • Proof you are an Alaska resident, such as
    • your driver's license
    • voter registration card
    • library card
    • bill with your address on it
    • rent or mortgage receipt
  • Proof of income, such as
    • paycheck stubs or a W2 Form
    • proof of certification for Food Stamps, Medicaid, Denali KidCare or free or reduced price school lunch
  • Proof of pregnancy, if pregnant
  • Any children you are applying for
  • Completed application forms (if you filled them out before your appointment)
