Program Overview

Our 40-day program is based in Sitka and at wilderness sites in the Sitka area. It utilizes a cohort model, in which 8-10 students enter and participate in the program as a peer support group in a family-style environment.

Program Features

Raven's Way integrates these components into its treatment program:

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Substance abuse assessment and education
  • Academic education
  • Hazelden "Step" work and relapse prevention
  • Wilderness expedition and ropes course activities
  • Activities relevant to Native cultures
  • Peer support groups
  • Home-like residential living
  • Aftercare planning and follow-up contacts


Raven's Way is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Additional Associated Accreditations

  • The Raven's Way academic program is part of the accredited Sitka School District.
  • Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital is JCAHO accredited.

Raven's Way adheres to the ethical standards of the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC).
