A Free Service

The free Nurse Advice Line may be accessed by calling your local SEARHC clinic or the toll-free number, 1-800-613-0560 after-hours.

It is important to note, if you have an emergency medical condition, please call 911 or your local emergency medical services number.

SEARHC’s After-Hours Nurse Advice Line is not a substitute for medical attention. The Registered Nurses cannot provide diagnoses or treatment.

When your health calls, we answer

Living in one of Southeast Alaska’s outlying areas presents a unique set of challenges. Creating availability to the After-Hours Nurse Advice Line helps eliminate one of those challenges. The Nurse Advice Line provides the peace of mind that comes from knowing this resource is available for your family’s health and well-being. While SEARHC’s After-Hours Nurse Advice Line is not a substitute for medical attention, it is an excellent complement to the relationship our patients have with their providers.

It is currently available in Angoon, Haines, Hoonah, Juneau, Kake, Klukwan, Pelican, Klawock, Craig, Hydaburg, Sitka and Thorne Bay

How the Nurse Advice Line works

When you experience health issues you do not know how to handle outside of normal clinic hours, simply call your SEARHC clinic or dial the toll-free number, 1-800-613-0560. Your free call will be answered by medical service representatives and registered triage nurses who will:

  • Provide a timely response to your questions
  • Determine whether your health issue requires a call to your provider and if so, contact your SEARHC provider
  • Give you tips to care for the problem yourself, if home care is appropriate
  • Connect you with emergency services if necessary
  • Answer general health questions
  • Forward a message to your local clinic after hours

Nurses provide advice for something as simple as what over-the-counter remedy is appropriate for a cold symptom, to something as complex as explaining a new medication. They can also advise patients during, a more serious and extremely stressful, health-related situation.
