The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Community Dietitian II Kari Natwick, RD, LD, CLEC, will travel to Haines, Klukwan and Skagway to offer medical nutrition therapy and other services from Feb. 27-March 3.
On Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 27-28, Kari will offer medical nutrition therapy services from 1-5 p.m. at the SEARHC Haines Health Center. On Wednesday, Feb. 29, Kari will travel to Klukwan to provide medical nutrition therapy from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the SEARHC Klukwan Health Center. On Thursday, March 1, Kari will provide medical nutrition therapy services all day at the Haines Health Center.
On Friday, March 2, Kari will provide medical nutrition therapy services from 8-10 a.m. at the Haines Health Center, then she will travel to Skagway and will provide services from 2-5 p.m. at the Dahl Memorial Clinic. On Saturday, March 3, Kari will provide medical nutrition services from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dahl Memorial Clinic, and at 1 p.m. she will provide a “Cooking with your Slow Cooker” class at the Skagway Traditional Council.
Medical nutrition therapy is nutrition counseling provided by a registered dietitian for people with health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney disease, pregnancy, etc. It also is for people who want a safer way to lose weight than fad diets, or want to learn more about childhood nutrition, general nutrition, mindful eating or more.
