The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka is pleased to announce the addition of Somerset M. “Somer” Dunn, Au.D., to its medical staff as an audiologist. “I am very pleased to have Somerset Dunn, Au.D., CCC-A, join our medical staff,” said Dr. Marty Grasmeder, S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Administrator/Medical Director. “It has been several years since we last offered audiology services, and it is an area of huge needs for our patient population. Somer is bright, enthusiastic, and will greatly expand our hearing-related services.” Dr. Dunn earned her Audiology Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, and she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in psychology and speech, language and hearing sciences. Dr. Dunn holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) credential from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA). She comes to SEARHC from Colorado, where she worked in a six-physician otolaryngology (ear, nose, throat) practice that included four audiologists. Dr. Dunn performed comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, vestibular testing (balance tests) and auditory evoked potential testing (a test for how the nerves from the ear to the brain work) on primarily adult patients. “I am committed to quality patient care and the overall well-being of the people of Southeast Alaska,” Dr. Dunn said. “I feel privileged to be part of the team here at SEARHC.” Dr. Dunn said she enjoys all aspects of audiology. She also loves to ski and hike, and she loves trying new foods.
