Ethel Lund Medical Center welcomes Dr. Jessica Scott

The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) recently added Dr. Jessica Scott, MD, to its permanent medical staff at the SEARHC Ethel Lund Medical Center in Juneau. Dr. Scott is Tlingít, from the Raven moiety and Kaach.ádi (Frog) clan. She lived in Kake until she was 13 years old, then moved to Juneau where she graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School. She is the fourth Alaska Native medical provider currently on the staff at the Ethel Lund Medical Center. “Dr. Scott is a perfect addition to the Ethel Lund Medical Center staff,” said Dr. Janice Sheufelt, Clinic Administrator/Medical Director at the Ethel Lund Medical Center. “We are very happy to have another Alaska Native family physician join our clinic. Dr. Scott recently completed her family medicine training and will be seeing patients of all ages, including prenatal care and deliveries. Please join us in welcoming her to SEARHC.” Dr. Scott earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, where she was part of the Alaska WWAMI program. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Scott is the third family physician in the past two years to be hired by SEARHC after completing the Alaska Family Residency Program in Anchorage, a residency program designed to train family physicians for Alaska. Before joining the clinic’s permanent medical staff, Dr. Scott completed student and residency rotations at the Ethel Lund Medical Center. Dr. Scott is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. “I am looking forward to working with the patients and medical staff at SEARHC,” Dr. Scott said. Dr. Scott’s medical interests include the full spectrum of family medicine. She also enjoys hiking, biking, fishing and spending time with her family. ###
