The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Jessie Norma Jim Health Center in Angoon is pleased to announce the addition of Alexis D. Brandenburg, FNP, to its medical staff as a mid-level practitioner and Community Health Aide/Practitioner (CHAP) supervisor. “We are very pleased to have filled on of our nurse practitioner vacancies with a highly skilled provider,” said Dr. David Vastola, MD, SEARHC Community Health Care Services Medical Director. “Ms. Brandenburg has an extensive nursing background and will provide hands-on patient care as well as supervision in the clinic. Our Community Health Practitioners have done an excellent job during the prolonged vacancy of the supervisor position, but they will benefit from the day-to-day onsite teaching of a higher-level provider.” Brandenburg earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the Community-based Family Nurse Practitioner Education Program at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in Hyden, Ky. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, Mont. She is board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Brandenburg has 30 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in critical care and emergency room departments in Montana. She holds a CCRN certification for critical care nursing and a CEN certification for emergency room nursing. “I have always enjoyed the out of doors in Montana, including having horses along with my dogs and cats,” Brandenburg said. “I also am a walker. I am thrilled to be in Alaska for the first time and love being in Angoon. I am looking forward to seeing bears this spring, though hopefully not up close and personal.”
