Susan L Hennon, R.D., L.D.
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Registered Dietitian
Susan completed her dietetic internship at Oregon Health Sciences University. She earned her B.S. in Dietetics and Institution Management, with high honors, at Oregon State University.
In 1984 Susan first came to SEARHC to work as the SEARHC WIC Program’s Nutrition Educator. She left SEARHC in 1989 after the birth of her second child. Susan worked on contract as a dietitian while her children were young -- working for a wide variety of agencies. Her jobs gave her the opportunity to travel across our vast state -- from Metlakatla to Kotzebue to Fort Yukon and many places in-between, particularly throughout Southeast Alaska. Susan returned to SEARHC and the WIC Program in 2000 and served as the WIC Coordinator from 2003-2011. She currently works as the clinical dietitian at SEARHC Ethel Lund Medical Center.
Susan had the honor of being in Sitka during the celebration when SEARHC and Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital merged in 1986.
Susan is an active member of the Juneau Breastfeeding Alliance, working to support women’s efforts to breastfeed and advocating for their ability to combine work and breastfeeding.
She loves reading, fiber arts and cooking. Susan practices yoga, bikes, snowshoes, and hikes. She also enjoys going on cycling vacations with her family and friends.
