Robert F. “Bob” Crochelt, MD

Dr. Crochelt earned MD and PhD degrees in medicine and gastrointestinal pharmacology from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and he completed a five-year surgical residency at the University of California at San Francisco. He also earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry, awarded magna cum laude (with high honors) from Columbia College in New York City. Before moving to Sitka, Dr. Crochelt worked as a surgeon in rural Minnesota, Ketchikan and rural West Virginia.

Dr. Crochelt is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Society of Surgeons of the Alimentary Tract, the Alaska State Medical Society, and he is a member of the executive council of the Nafziger Surgical Society.
Dr. Crochelt's professional interests include biliary surgery, trauma systems and patient care, pacemakers and endoscopy. Besides spending quiet time with his wife, Dr. Crochelt enjoys fishing, hiking and fiddling with computers and cameras.
