Physical Therapy
Certified as a physical therapist by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association
Marnie earned a Bachelor of Science, a Masters of Physical Therapy and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, all from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif. Before moving to Alaska in 2005 to start the physical therapy program at the SEARHC Haines Health Center, Marnie worked at the Riverside Community Medical Group SPORT Clinic and the Sports Club Los Angeles/Irvine-Sportsmed, both in California, where she focused on orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and prevention, including working with professional and developing athletes.
Marnie has an ingrained love of treating the athlete, but as the only physical therapist in Haines she said she is thrilled with the challenge of treating all in need. In recent years she has taken a special interest in the biology of pain and the intimate interaction between the brain, pain and functionality. She strongly believes in the paradigm shift of medical practitioners from a largely biology base to a biopsychosocial approach. When she’s not in the clinic, Marnie enjoys running with her dog on the Haines trails, helping others find their passion for a well and fit lifestyle, and relishing the traditions and surroundings that are Alaska with her partner, Greg.
