Janice Heaton Sheufelt, MD

Dr. Sheufelt earned a medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, and she completed her residency in Family Medicine with the North Colorado Family Residency program in Greeley, Colo. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Washington. Dr. Sheufelt was worked as a family physician at the SEARHC Juneau Medical Center from 1997-2000, when she moved to Yakima, Wash., to be a physician and faculty member at the Central Washington Family Medical Center, a residency program run by the University of Washington. When she returned to the SEARHC Ethel Lund Medical Center in 2004, Dr. Sheufelt was hired as the medical director in Juneau. She became clinic administrator/medical director at the Ethel Lund Medical Center in Juneau before assuming her current role as Medical Director of Primary Care Clinics.
Awards & Honors
Dr. Sheufelt participated in a faculty development fellowship run by the University of Washington Family Medicine Residency Network. Dr. Sheufelt received the National Impact Award for her service to her Native community during the 2012 National Indian Health Board’s Annual Consumer Conference.
Dr. Sheufelt's medical interests include all areas of Family Medicine. Her personal interests include her family, competitive cycling, running, reading and knitting.
