Emily earned a Masters in Clinical Christian Counseling from Cornerstone University in Lake Charles, La. She holds Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Chemical Dependency Counselor II (CDC II) credentials from the state of Alaska. Before joining SEARHC in July 2012, Emily previously was the director of Impact Counseling Services Inc. in Haines, which she founded in 1996. She also worked in residential treatment for adolescent girls in Wyoming, and she briefly worked with Lynn Canal Counseling in Haines and did contract work with a variety of mental health agencies in Alaska.
Awards & Honors
Emily is in her second term on the Alaska Board of Professional Counseling (appointed in 2006, renewed in 2010), and has been vice chair of the board for the past four years.
A long-time resident of Southeast Alaska, Emily was born in Juneau and raised in Haines. Her 95-year-old mother, Hazel Englund, was born in Haines to a family that homesteaded in the community. Emily enjoys working with people toward achieving goals they have set and seeing things change for the better in their lives. She also enjoys hiking, fishing, camping and berry picking.
