What to do if you're sick

If you have flu symptoms, stay home, keep away from others and avoid all public activities until at least 24 hours after your fever is gone without medication. In most cases, you will not need to make a trip to the emergency room or local clinic if you have the flu. If you’re not sure if you should stay home or seek medical care, please call your local clinic.

If you do need to make a trip to your local clinic for medical care or to pick up medications, please call the clinic before leaving your house (unless it’s an emergency). This allows us to prepare for your arrival so we can keep from infecting our other patients. If you have any flu symptoms, such as a high fever or cough, please let staff know once you arrive at the clinic. You will be given a mask to wear during your clinic visit and, if possible, you will be taken to a waiting area away from other patients.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created a page that tells people what to do if they have symptoms of the flu, www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/sick.htm. The CDC also created a page that tells people how to take care of a sick person in their home, www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/guidance_homecare.htm.
