Community Wellness Advocate certificate program


About the program

The award-winning Community Wellness Advocate (CWA) certificate program is a partnership between SEARHC and the University of Alaska Southeast-Sitka Campus. The CWA program prepares students for employment in the fields of health promotion and health education.

As a CWA student you will learn to:

The program is taught using distance delivery. As a student you will be able to remain at home for all but two one-week periods, when you travel to Sitka for classes. In addition, CWA classes can be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Sciences from the University of Alaska Southeast.

Financial aid is available for this program. Some tribes, Native corporations, regional tribal health organizations and other sources help pay course and travel fees for students, and they may help with job placement after graduation.
