Consider Practicing in Alaska
As a registered nurse, we know you care about contributing to people’s health and well-being. You’ve passionately devoted your life to helping others. However, nursing can be a challenging career choice that can lead to burnout and exhaustion.
At SEARHC, we believe it’s important that our employees are satisfied and happy, both in and outside of the clinic. Our culture is focused on promoting a sense of balance between work and play, and in Alaska there is no shortage of things to do. Alaska boasts a wide variety of recreational activities, such as hiking, boating, skiing, fishing and hunting. We enjoy our local treasures such as Mt. Edgecumbe, Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching in Gastineau Channel. Our temperate climate has air so crisp and clean, we’ve been told there is nothing else like it.
“I love working at SEARHC because I feel like they care about me as a person and for my well-being. The work is very rewarding and I feel valued. Everything from the people to the air is refreshing here. We knew after a short time that Alaska was home”

What Have You Heard About Living in Alaska?
You may be surprised to learn how different Southeast Alaska is than you had originally thought. We have city life as well as remote villages. In Southeast Alaska where SEARHC is located, we are less than a three-hour plane ride from Seattle and our climate is similarly temperate.
We are a tight-knit community, accepting of all those who show respect for their fellow person as well as the land. Alaskans are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Our citizens also have a taste for adventure. There may not be a more unique place that combines modern amenities with the pristine wilderness that can only be described as an American treasure. If you like to hike, camp, backpack, mountain climb, fish, snowboard, or anything in between, then Alaska is where you should be.
We welcome you to come to Alaska. Smell our air, taste our food and go on an adventure. This is living.
